On Saturday, March 21st, at 6 pm, there will be a book signing at Meditation Spaces in Montrose, Colorado featuring local author Sangdrol Blanchard (using the pen name of ‘DL Blanchard’ and the owner of Meditation Spaces) who will talk about her newly released suspense novel, “Blue Moon Bench”. Blanchard will be sharing the inspiration behind this first novel and the story of how she pushed through obstacles to finally get the novel into the world. A story she hopes will inspire other hopeful authors.
ABOUT THE STORY: Blanchard will also share how the classic mystery novel “Rebecca” by Daphne du Maurier, (and a movie by director Alfred Hitchcock) sparked the inspiration for her storyline. She striped the premise to the bone, then dressed it in the colorful culture of northern Arizona. It quickly became a novel that flowed effortlessly because of her love for the southwest and going on adventures in Arizona’s great landscape.
ABOUT BUDDHISM: “When I was a child, I was encouraged to go to different churches to choose one that worked for me. When I grew older I began exploring Buddhism and found it to be a way of life rather than a religion, while also answering more of my questions. The wisdom of the teachings, and meditation, changed my life for the better. Today I worry that some people might find Buddhism threatening because it’s different, so I decided to make my main character in this novel a Tibetan Buddhist so readers could relax and see it’s just a pure and honest way to live.”
Copies of the book will be on sale at the event, and the author is happy to autograph your copy if requested. There will be light refreshments, and the event should last approximately an hour, depending on how many questions the audience asks. You can learn more at bluemoonbench.com.
The novel is available now for purchase at Meditation Spaces, 12 S. Uncompahgre Ave. in old downtown Montrose. Open Weds-Saturday – 10 – 4pm.
